Andy Knight Runs His FiltaFry Plus Franchise in Coventry

Andy Knight talks about his decision to start his own FiltaFry Franchise which he runs in Coventry:

After being in similar sales roles in large blue-chip companies, I felt un-challenged, and like I was going round in circles with no real progression and therefore the desire to power the hamster wheel for the large corporations. Working to please management and shareholders year in year out was not what I wanted. I needed something more, something better, a new environment.

I chose FiltaFry as the idea is so pleasingly simple. So much so it stood out amongst the rest. I had experienced the catering industry at numerous points in my previous roles so did have knowledge of this environment. My previous jobs gave me experience of customer management and also sales at different levels.

FiltaFry offered me what I needed; business ownership, daily challenge and the things I used to enjoy at work like a constantly changing environment (not stuck within the same four walls). I like meeting new people and having new experiences. To add to this I do enjoy earning money and being able to see things I never thought I would.

The decision to take a FiltaFry franchise on or any other is not a small thing. It did give me sleepless nights as my mind raced I would often be writing down questions and lists of things to do and having to search the internet for information in the early hours. I was used to the protection that working for a big business offered and the occasional perks.

After meeting Damian and the team, I talked through my current position and mind-set with openness and honesty. I felt comfortable doing so. I conveyed my worries and nervousness of the possibility of such a change of environment. This was met with the same openness and honesty back along with what I now know to be a deep understanding. They’ve been there too and seen many others make the transition.

There was no pressure to sign. I was given the opportunity to spend the day with an existing franchisee, to see if it was right for me and also if I could do it. This gave me a more in depth knowledge in order to be able to ask more questions of which were all answered. When I was satisfied that I thought this could work for me I took my wife in to the head office to put her mind at rest and gain her support to go for it.

The training was superb. There was an obvious proven structure that had evolved over many years. The support offered was and is constant when required or asked for and the whole package is ready for you to get off the blocks running straight away.

I’m 7 months in now. I have never been happier at work and also at home without coming across a bit cheesy. My wife says I am like a different person (for the better). I am working very hard and my business has grown month on month. I now visit a wide variety of customers from high end car manufacturers to prisons. I hope to be able to take on my first employee soon to help with the workload and to enable me to concentrate on expanding further. The success of my future is in my hands and that is what I have missed without knowing it in my life so far.

Would I recommend FiltaFry? If you have read this testimonial this far YOU know the answer. Investigate it further and if it’s right for you, you can do well. Just come and ask your questions and see what its all about.
