Furniture Clinic, a leather repair & restoration specialist franchise based out of Gateshead, Tyne & Wear has 13 franchise’s across the UK covering all aspects of Furniture, Car Interior, Handbag and Clothing repairs, as long as each is made from leather!

In January 2009, Furniture Clinic set up a franchise operation in Epping, Essex, which boasted immediate success from day one. Franchise owner & operator Mike Browne said; “It’s unbelievable the speed in which my business has taken off. I had my training in January and began trading as a Furniture Clinic franchisee in February. Since then, which is only 8 months later, I have employed two full time members of staff and I am just about to move into a new workshop that has been purposely fitted out to suit my business”.

Before joining Furniture Clinic, Mike was a successful property developer, but as house prices started falling, Mike started to look for an alternative career. Mike ads; “I initially contacted Furniture Clinic because I was about to purchase a Range Rover with worn leather upholstery. After briefly speaking with their staff on the phone I began to realise that there could be huge potential for a leather repair business”.

After doing some research on the Internet Mike chose to buy a Furniture Clinic franchise and hasn’t looked back since.

“I’m currently only skimming the surface with the franchise as there are so many different routes and possibilities to grow the business. At the minute all of my work is coming from the public with the majority being work supplied from head office, repeat customers and recommendations. However, I am now starting to take a more managerial role in the business and so I am starting to look at getting work from insurance companies, furniture shops, car dealerships and I am currently in talks with a major hotel with the possibility of restoring over 300 leather tables and then maintaining them on a regular basis thereafter.”

It truly is amazing what Furniture Clinic can do with leather, anything from a small scuff or scratch to completely changing the colour of a sofa is possible.
