Sheree Parker is one of Ovenclean’s longest operating franchisees. She joined Ovenclean in 2001 and by 2004 was so busy Sheree had to take on an employee to help her manage the demand for her services.

Ovenclean - Sheree ParkerNow, twelve years on, she has expanded her initial owner operator business into a very successful management franchise. Sheree runs two vans and has two employees, as well as sub-contracting work to a neighbouring member of the network.

Sheree can’t understand why more women don’t invest into franchise businesses:
"For me, being a woman has certainly not presented any challenges. I think it’s irrelevant really – instead you should ask yourself, is self-employment for you? If it is, then franchising offers the opportunity to grow a successful business, without many of the risks associated with going it alone. The support and knowledge you get from the Ovenclean team is amazing, not just when you launch, but as your business grows too!

For me, being a woman has certainly not presented any challenges. I think it’s irrelevant really – instead you should ask yourself, is self-employment for you?"

Many of the benefits of owning an Ovenclean franchise, such as flexible working hours and being able to run a business from home, could make it a very attractive prospect for women, particularly for those trying to balance the demands of both a career and family.

Sheree reflects:
"I’d done the fourteen-hour days in my old job as someone else’s employee, and one of the things I value most about being self-employed is that I don’t have to spend my whole time working. My ambition from the start was to develop my Ovenclean business into a management franchise and it’s worked really well for me. I work sensible hours now and have a great work/life balance.

If I had to offer one piece of advice to any women thinking about franchising, it would be to do your research and if you feel that it could work for you - then go for it. The feeling of freedom you get with being your own boss is amazing - I have never looked back!"

Ovenclean is the longest established and most successful domestic oven cleaning franchise in the UK, providing specialist oven cleaning services to a large, virtually untapped marketplace.

Franchisees operate from professionally liveried vans and benefit from low overheads and high flexibility. The powerful yet eco-friendly Ovenclean system, exclusive to franchisees cleans ovens and hobs, AGAs, ranges and barbecues, restoring them to pristine condition within a matter of a few hours.
