Jeff Longley joined Mr. Electric in 2008

The Inside Story – How Jeff Longley knew Mr. Electric was the right franchise.

Profile

Mr. Electric - Jeff LongleyJeff left school at 15, although he did return to complete his Math’s O level.  Over the coming years Jeff held around 30 jobs before he decided franchising was the most profitable way to move forward.  Jeff has been involved in franchises for around 20 years before joining the Mr. Electric franchise network in 2008. Jeff originally purchased a milk round as a franchise before he went on to invest in Highway Glass, Claims Direct and Rainbow International.

Motivations

In 2008, Jeff had recently sold his Rainbow International franchise when his son qualified as an electrician.  Unfortunately at the start of the economic downturn his son struggled to find work and needed experience.  Jeff originally considered starting his own electrician’s business from scratch, however without experience of setting up as an electrician, and as his son didn’t have the experience to go out by himself, Jeff decided a franchise would offer the best support.  After first experiencing Mr. Electric when working with Rainbow International, Jeff quickly decided, whilst on holiday, to invest in a Mr. Electric franchise.

Feedback

Since investing in a Mr. Electric franchise, Jeff has found plenty of marketing training and support, whilst the franchise has become a million pound per year turnover business.  Jeff believes working with Mr. Electric feels more like a partnership, with regular idea sharing and running an advice forum at the Franchise show, building his own authority and presence in the franchise industry.  Jeff has found the leads that come from the Head Office make his business easy. On average, Jeff receives 40 brand new leads every week from SEO and PPC marketing, plus leads from key accounts such as HomeServe and AXA. This has left Jeff to focus on building his presence in the local community.  Jeff works closely with Ronald McDonald House Charity, which has in turn led to McDonald’s becoming a customer. Jeff is even trying to make a local restaurant the most energy efficient McDonald’s in the UK.

Ambitions

Jeff has ambitions to sell his Mr. Electric franchise for another high profit, like he did with Rainbow International.  Jeff intends to build the business over the coming two and a half years, whilst he continues to develop the McDonald’s contract and the local reputation. It is hoped that a facilities company who want a Midland’s presence will buy the franchise.

"Success is all about having the right attitude – I’m sitting on a million-pound a year business that delivers a very healthy income for me and my family."
