Louise Harris, franchise director of Wilkins Chimney Sweep, has been announced as a finalist in two categories of the annual EWIF (Encouraging Women Into Franchising) Awards.
Louise, who founded the franchise with chimney sweep husband Peter in 2010, is a finalist in both 'Woman Franchisor of the Year' and 'Inspirational Woman of the Year'.
The awards which were founded in 2010, are sponsored by NatWest. The finalist’s ceremony will be held at their London offices in Bishopsgate on Tuesday 16 May 2017.
Typically, confirmation of her position as a finalist was received as Louise stepped on stage at the Somerset Business Show, to give a talk on franchising. She regularly addresses such events, presenting on franchising to help develop an understanding and encourage people into the industry, either as franchisors or franchisees. She also presents to industry suppliers, to explain how they can better support their franchise members.
Louise is well-known throughout the industry for her passion and determination to uphold the values of ethical franchising at all times. In 2016 she was appointed on the board of the bfa (British Franchise Association) as an associate member representative. As part of that role she now also chairs the membership committee.
Commenting on her finalist positions Louise said:
"What a couple of weeks it has been! A week ago we launched our three newest franchisees with their Wilkins PowerClean service, the pressure washing arm of the business, which has made a huge difference to the income of our team in trials and now this; it’s all rather exciting!
Although it is my name on the nomination form it is totally a team effort; I couldn’t do any of it without the support of my husband and business partner Peter, who I run Wilkins Chimney Sweep with, or my wonderful PA Lisa, who keeps me sane and, of course, my fantastic franchisees who challenge and delight me on a daily basis. If I’m good at my job then it is entirely down to them. And maybe Gerry, our cat."
