John Baldacchino, owner of Wilkins Chimney Sweep West Cheshire has reached the finals of the British Franchise Association’s Franchisee of the Year awards in the category of Micro Business Franchisee of The Year’ The award was won by his fellow franchisee Richard Bryan owner of Wilkins Chimney Sweep Tyneside North in 2016.
John is currently enjoying a run of success, having recently walked away with the internal Wilkins Franchisee of The Year award at the franchises’ annual national franchise conference, beating 13 other franchisees to the post.
John from Runcorn in Cheshire who left a corporate life working with brands such as Marstons and Starbucks to become a chimney sweep, bought his franchise in 2011 and over the past six years has built a successful, profitable business, seeing a double digit turnover growth in 2016, despite six weeks off work due to injury.
Wilkins Chimney Sweep was founded in 1895 and franchised by current owners Peter and Louise Harris in 2010. Peter and Louise are well known in the industry for their professionalism and dedication to the cause of ethical franchising. Louise herself is a finalist in the categories of Franchisor of the Year and Inspiring Woman of the year at the 2017 EWIF awards.
On learning of his finalist’s position John said:

Wilkins Chimney Sweep has held a training day to teach their franchisees how to incorporate the new Wilkins PowerClean system into their existing franchise.
